ALESSIO ZELONI (ITA) VS ZIGA PECNIK (SLO)MARIBOR, SLOVENIA, 02.12.2022.Maribor was the host city of the sixth edition of famous „ARENA FIGHT NIGHTS“ tournament. This time under the name of „VEČER ZA ZMAGE“ and in cooperation with Mr. Tomaz Barada, legendary WAKO PRO former champion and present NOC Slovenia vice-president. Mr Tomaz Barada is one of the candidates for NOC Slovenia Presidency on soon upcoming elections. Sixth edition of AFN brought us glorious programme with both RING and TATAMI fights in 4 different kickboxing styles. The main event of the evening was WAKO PRO World title bout in K1 rules, 71.800 kg. The title was vacant after retirement of Bulgarian fighter Atanas Bojilov. Challengers for the title have been appointed by WAKO PRO HQ based on their ranking and achievements.From Italy we had Alessio Zeloni and representing Slovenia we had Ziga Pecnik, former WAKO PRO European champion in K1 rules.These two great fighters have already fought on the occasion of The World Games held this year in the USA. Zeloni won that fight so there was a lot of reasons for both of the fighters to show them selves in the best possible way.On the occasion of the official weigh in held on December 01, 2022 in Shopping mall „EUROPARK“ in Maribor, Pecnik was 71.700 kg and Zeloni 71.800 kg.On the day of the event, in the presence of over 2.000 spectators in Sport Hall „TABOR“ in Maribor and in front of VIP guests such as NOC Slovenia President, Mr Bogdan Gabrovec, Maribor Mayor, Mr Aleksander Arsenovic, legendary Slovenian athlete and former Olympic, World and European champion in gymnastics, Mr Miroslav Cerar, fighters gave their best in prestige fights. We could see amazing fights in both RING and TATAMI with some spectacular actions and knock outs.The main event started at 19:45 pm with live broadcast on TV Arena, leading regional sport television, partner of „ARENA FIGHT NIGHTS“ project.The fighters had no respect to each other from the first second of fight. There was no easy start, trading of punches and kicks started from the first sound of the gong. The first round was in favour of Zeloni who was extremely dangerous with the high kicks and body punches. Pecnik has felt each single attack of his opponent very well.The second round was much better for Pecnik.
