According to Carlos Ramjanali, chairman of the WAKO PRO Council, the current changes in the structure and global vision of combat sports require these initiatives. "We need to reflect on the sport more generally, the world has changed, the sport has changed and desires have changed as well. WAKO PRO wants to take on this role of illuminating this global change and we are taking steps to make this happen, bringing promoters closer together, standardizing processes and promoting growth." For this first Summit, which already has promoters from more than 70 countries registered, the basis involves presenting the strategic plan, vision and structure of what aims to be the most relevant structure for K1 and professional kickboxing worldwide.
"Not only K1 but combat sports in general. The global trend is increasingly towards growth through support, reaching various targets and including new markets. Recruitment for professional K1 draws heavily on the extraordinary work done in WAKO amateur events, which are becoming increasingly competitive and high-level. The global growth of our sport is significant, largely driven by a global health (fitness) trend, but the increase in practitioners is also noticeable among professionals. K1 is currently one of the largest suppliers of athletes for many other sports and needs to organize and discipline itself to transform its potential into global certainty," Carlos Ramjanali emphasized.
The panel discussion at this Summit will feature some prominent guests. In addition to Carlos Ramjanali, Donato Milano, CEO of WAKO PRO, Daysuke Teraguchi, organizer of the K1 GP, Paulo Zorello, CEO WAKO Pro, Panam president and founder of the WGP, Fouad Darwish, CEO of Palm Sports and President of UAE WARRIORS, one of the fastest growing MMA leagues globally, Ariel Machado and Jonas Salsicha, the current K1 Grand Prix champions, among other figures from combat sports, will be present.
